5 Tips for Saving Your Sanity During a Divorce

Many people feel as if they are going to lose their sanity during a divorce.  This doesn't have to be the case.  Here are 5 tips to help preserve your sanity as you go through a divorce. 1.  Remember that a divorce is primarily a business transaction.  Divorce seems to bring emotions to the front of every transaction in the process.  But, remember that much of the process involves "business" decisions, e.g., dividing assets and debt, retirement accounts, what to do with the house, martial and non-marital assets, etc.).  As with any business transaction, emotion can lead to bad decisions.  So, do your best to leave emotion our of decision making during your divorce. 2.  Be fair and honest.   It is easy to be adversarial in a divorce.  The temptation is to try to take everything you can from your soon to be ex-spouse.  This is not a smart way to negotiate.  Taking the high ground is the best tactic.  Be honest about ...
